my own Street Fighter 2026 movie review

my own Street Fighter 2026 movie review

Yesterday I watched the movie, and it's both action-packed and a bit humorous, but stay true to the source material, in my opinion. It's like a combination of Deadpool, Sonic the Hedgehog, Rush Hour, and Cobra Kai, and the complete opposite of Mortal Kombat. I like Animated flashbacks and post-credits scenes were amazing and badass, similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Osmosis Jones, Mary Poppins, and Enchanted. I hope they make a non-canon anime or animated TV spinoff after the movie.

Street Fighter has had two crappy, worst live-action movies for decades, except for the fan film/miniseries Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist by Joey Anash, but I also like the anime adaptations from the 90s. I watched a lot of video game movies: Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog. This movie has the potential to expand the transmedia franchise in the future and rival Star Wars, Avatar,  Karate Kid, Game of Thrones, and Transformers, and introduce the martial arts genre to a new generation. I don't care what critics say, and I tell them you don’t know the history of this game. The special moves and fight scenes are more accurate and cool, like the games. The franchise introduced me to Japanese video games, Asian culture, and martial arts in my teens.

Some cons should be improved:

the story/plot need more high-stakes moments, globalized and street-level setting, stylized martial arts, over-the-top, self-aware action with dramatic and humorous moments instead of being little mediocre and goofy and not whitewashed Dan Hibki and replaced with a asian actor, Characters are insanely weird not like from the games, The soundtrack need original songs and authentic musical artists we know like Major Lazer, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Rich Brian, Tobe Nwigwe, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Travis Scott, Pusha T, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Busta Rhymes, Tech N9ne, Ja Rule, Future, Ty Dolla Sign, Kid Ink, or Run the Jewels.

Street Fighter is one of the inspirations for my future science fiction martial arts anime/manga project i am developing and maybe I will write and create a small fighting game Fanfiction related content based on the games, anime, and movies next year and i hope Kitao Sakurai develop a sequel or spinoffs for this movie.

I will give it: 72/100
